Hello Future Health Care Workforce,
Michigan State Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is pleased you have found your way to the MIHOTT website. MIHOTT is a great way to learn about health careers and pick the one that’s right for you. We have proudly supported MIHOTT because of its success at creating a website that is fun and interesting to use. AHEC was created in the fall of 2003 to increase the number of health care providers in both rural and urban underserved areas. By partnering with programs like MIHOTT, we hope to encourage young people to consider a career in health care. We call these programs "pipeline" because they help increase the number of applicants to health profession training programs. AHEC wants to make sure that the message is out…
and the work is rewarding. The Michigan State AHEC represents a partnership between MSU’s three health colleges – College of Human Medicine (the applicant), College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the College of Nursing. Other educational partners include Ferris State University’s Colleges of Pharmacy and Allied Health, Wayne State University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and the University of Michigan Schools of Dentistry and Medicine’s Department of Family Practice. This program directly responds to a critical health care need through a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is matched dollar for dollar by the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and its Community Campuses. As you decide to explore careers in healthcare, AHEC would be happy to help you shadow a practicing health professional to see if the career is right for you. Please visit our website at www.michiganstateahec.msu.edu. Sincerely, Carol Parker Lee
